"Our foster carers can come from all walks of life"
What Does a Foster Carer Do?
Most importantly, a foster carer provides a warm and caring placement which prepares a child or young person for life.
A Young Foundations foster carer would give day-to-day care for children and young people, having regard to the demands and difficulties they experience in being separated from their own families.
Foster carers also take an active part in contributing and implementing a child's care plan including task and contact arrangements and promote the health growth and development of the young person; particularly their physical and mental health and educational achievement. They would also make sure the young person is encouraged to develop a positive understanding of their origins, religion, culture and language.
Foster carers help in developing and sustaining positive relationships between the child, those around them with parental responsibility and others who are significant in their life.
A Young Foundations foster carer will help and prepare a child who is moving on to other carers or to independence, to do so positively.
