Support for foster carers

Young Foundations offers a great deal of support to its foster carers for this very important role.

We offer the following

Payment

We offer foster carers £415 per week for teenage and specialist placements and £375 per week for long-term matched placements. With additional allowances this works out as £20,000 to £22,000 per year, much of which is tax free. Further information and guidance is available from Young Foundations.

Foster carers are classed as being self-employed and as a result can claim other tax benefits and advantages. They are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance contributions.
Carers are offered two weeks paid leave per year and those with full-time placements are also entitled to 14 days paid respite annually.

Training

Individual training and development profiles for all carers are agreed at annual reviews, in regular supervision and in line with CWDC training standards for foster care.

Carers will also have the opportunity to undertake an NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People through our accredited City and Guilds training centre.

Support

Our foster carers receive experienced social work support, 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week. Each foster carer is designated a supervising social worker who will visit every week at the beginning of the placement, with contact reducing when the placement becomes more settled.

We also have a team of experienced staff who can offer practical support.
