"providing children with a structured living environment in the homes of skilled, trained and well-supported foster carers"
Social Workers and Referrers
At Young Foundations Fostering we understand that you, as social workers and referrers, are responsible for achieving the best possible outcomes for looked after children. We have the experience and the foster carers to work with you to do just that.
Our foster carers provide a warm and caring placement which prepares a child or young person for life in a multi-cultural society.
We treat our foster carers as equal partners in an important endeavour and in order to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people, we always provide our carers with comprehensive support.
Support for carers
Before being approved as foster carers, all of our carers undertake the Fostering Network's Skills to Foster Induction programme. Once approved, we expect all of our carers to take part in a core training programme, as well as a mutually agreed package of specifically tailored training to meet their individual needs.
Training needs are reviewed annually and endorsed by the agency panel during annual reviews of carers approvals. Young Foundations Fostering training is delivered in line with CWDC training standards for foster carers.
We limit the number of placements our social workers are expected to support to no more than ten - this lets them provide intensive support when placement's need extra time and resources.
As well as supporting our foster carers we work closely with the childrens families, our colleagues in local authorities and other professionals involved in the lives of fostered or looked after children; with the aim of achieving the best possible outcome for children and young people.
All Young Foundations foster carers are supported by a clinical psychologist and educational teams.
Services we provide
Young Foundations offer placements for children and young people of either gender up to the age of 18. We understand that careful matching is essential to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people and we consider issues such as ethnic origin, cultural background, religion, language, gender, sexuality and disability very carefully in our matching process.
We have carers who can offer a wide range of placements including emergency and short-term placements and our social workers can be contacted 24-hours a day seven days a week to arrange emergency placements.
Young Foundations can also offer long-term placements and specialist carers who can provide mother and baby placements, remand placements, sibling group placements and placements for children with learning disabilities and/or disabilities.
We are also currently developing Aiming High teams to provide short break and support services for children with disabilities.
